Mario Galla was discovered at a fast food outlet in Hamburg and quickly went on to model for the likes of Hugo Boss, Adidas and United Colors of Benetton working in London, Paris and Milan. At first glance there is nothing really unusual about this story, however Mario was born with a condition called PFFD, which basically meant that the bones in his right leg did not develop properly and so he wears a prosthetic leg. This grabbed public attention during Berlin Fashion Week in the summer of 2010 when the designer, Michael Michalsky sent Mario down the runway in shorts. In 2011 Mario published his autobiography “Mit einem Bein im Modelbusiness” (With One Leg In The Model Industry).
Since then Mario has continued to model, he has also completed a BA Degree and devotes his spare time to working with children who are growing up with a disadvantaged background. In 2013 he was made an Anti-discrimination Ambassador for the German Government. Mario is also a spokesperson for NGO Handicap International, an aid organization that works with disabled people globally in areas of conflict, disaster and poverty.
